A Tribute to the Pleasures of Fine Wine
The Sweet Molly McGuire Wine Cellar and Dining Room were created to
champion the enjoyment of Fine Wine with Great Food. The Cellar, with a capacity
of over 8,000 bottles, is one of the largest Restaurant Display Wine Cellars in the
World. The temperature is carefully maintained at an optimum 60 degrees with a
constant humidity of 60% to assure the preservation of our wine through the years.
The Wine Cellar Dining Room granite walls were quarried from Stone
Mountain, Georgia. The 3200-gal. oak fermentation tanks and barrels come from
Pensacola’s Bartels Winery (Circa 1925-1975). One of McGuire’s many mooseheads
hangs over the fireplace, mounted on a 600-gallon barrel from the Viano Winery of
Napa Valley, California. Flanking the fireplace are two 12-foot high, stained glass
windows that once graced a masonic hall in Philadelphia. Illuminating the room
from the vaulted ceiling is a handcrafted iron and copper Chandelier from an Abbey
in Quebec. In the Ruins of the same Abbey, we found the three sixteen-foot high
Gothic arched windows with rose hand-blown panes.
The Antique Wine Press in the loft was used in the 1930s and‘40s in one of
Napa Valley’s oldest Vineyards. The aged terra cotta plaques depicting the god and
goddess of wine, Bacchus and Adrienne, are from a New Orleans garden.

featuring the
Château Mouton Rothschild Artist Series
Baron Philippe de Rothschild came up with the idea of having each year’s
label designed by a famous artist of the day. In 1946, this became a
permanent and significant aspect of the Mouton image with labels created
by some of the world’s great painters and sculptors including Miró,
Chagall, Braque, Picasso, Tàpies, Francis Bacon, Dali, Balthus, Jeff Koons
and even Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. The popularity of the label
images results in auction prices for older and more collectible years being
far out of sync with the other first growths, whose labels do not change
year to year.
McGuire’s is proud to offer one of the very few complete vertical
collections of the Château Mouton Rothschild Artist Series in the United
States. This collection is on display in the Sweet Molly McGuire Wine
Cellar.
At over a hundred years old, the 1905 is the oldest bottle in the Sweet Molly McGuire Wine Cellar.
The 1993 Mouton
label, a pencil drawing of
a nude nymphet by the
French painter Balthus
was rejected for use in the
United States by the ATF
and the America’s label
has a blank space where
the image should have
been. Both versions are
sought after by collectors
with the blank label being
the rarer label.
McGuire’s is proud to display both 1993 bottles.
*Because Vintage Wines are by description very old, we cannot
